Name: David Wiebe

City: Winnipeg, Canada

Occupation: Co-Owner of my family’s construction company, Visions Contracting Services, Inc.

Model and fabric:
 306 13oz Vintage denim

Wears: Because I’m in work wear all day, I’ve worn these jeans on evenings and weekends for 2 and a half years. They are my favourite and only pair of jeans.

Washes/Soaks: I’ve washed these once.

Washing rituals and methods: Sometimes a little spot cleaning with a cloth and water is needed. Otherwise, I followed the directions on the Olé website the one time that I washed them after almost 2 years of wear.

Fond memory in this pair: Obviously I don’t wear these to work and that means I hang out with friends in them, go to Jets games in them, and basically do all my favourite (and non-favourite errand-running) in them! No one memory sticks out because they are just my go-to, which is kinda pretty cool in itself.

Favourite sports team: Who else, but the Winnipeg Jets! We share a pool of tickets for the year and taking my boys to the game is a fun night out.

Favourite album: Foo Fighters “The Color and The Shape” because it was my first favourite album. “Monkey Wrench” and “Everlong” songs – enough said.

One website you visit daily: YouTube – some of my favourite channels are Casey Niestat and Daily Driven Exotics for sure.

Social media handle: I’m not on social media but I do troll my wife’s from time to time? She captures our life on Instagram, and if you troll hard enough, you will see me there @chantal_wiebe.

What’s next for you: We are turning an old warehouse building into apartments in the Exchange. It will be staring up this fall, and as a co-owner and site supervisor of it, I’m excited to see it come to life.

306 15oz Slub Selvedge – 1 Month’s Wear

Similar to producing a product itself, we always encourage our Olé family to enjoy the process. It’s easy to get obsessed with the fades that many desire but it’s the journey and progress that we appreciate. Enjoy the denim from the first wear to the 10th wash and so forth. Here’s an example of a pair of our 306 15oz slub denim that has been worn for approximately month since the end of December. As you can see, the electric blue colour is starting to be seen at the whiskers, phone pocket and rear.

If you have a pair of Olé Denim 306’s that you’d like to showcase, contact us at info@oledenim.com.

Faded with Olé | Dustin Veitch

Name: Dustin Veitch

Occupation: Multimedia Producer and Photographer

Model and fabric: 306 13oz

Wears: 1 year, nearly every day

Washes/Soaks: 2 soaks, 3 repairs

Washing rituals and methods: I dip my Olé’s in a shallow bath of cool water and Woolite Dark. Sometimes I weigh the jeans down, and sometimes I don’t, depending on how ambitious I’m feeling. I let ‘em soak for 45 minutes, drain the tub, fill it again to let them soak for another 20 and gently hang-dry. Next time, I’ll probably just throw them in the regular wash.

Fond memory in this pair: I’ve been wearing my Olé’s just about every day for the last year. They’ve become a regular part of my life, as much as my wallet, boots and watch. They’ve been with me through thick and thin, so it’s hard to pinpoint a specific memory.

Favourite artist/photographer: I can only recite titles of a few of his lauded masterpieces, such as The Tetons and Snake River’ or ‘Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico’, but it’s not just Ansel Adams’ images that resonate with me. Not only did he influence the world around him with his artwork, his inspiration also led him to, literally, write the book on it. Many of his techniques are relevant and still taught in today’s largely digital world.

What’s next for you: It’s never easy to tell what’s beyond the next few rolls of film. I’ve recently started getting my feet wet with large format photography, specifically working on portraiture. It’s been a slow process getting familiar with the equipment and learning how to process the media, but I am at the point where I am starting to see consistent results and I’m proud of that.
